Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month in Filleigh Village Hall where coffee is served from 10.00am to 10.30am.

The Chairman’s Welcome and Notices are at 10.30am followed by our Speaker at 10.45am.

Tuesday 14th January‘Animals at War’. A deeply emotional and thoroughly inspiring presentation about some of the worthy recipients of the Dickin Medal, now considered to be the Victoria Cross for animals. Ash Jones
Tuesday 11th February‘The Lost Country Houses of North Devon'. Local Historian (and member of the bakery family) Lisa Chanter tells the story of some great houses in our area now consigned to history.Lisa Chanter

Tuesday 8th April'The Work of the RNLI'. The RNLI has just celebrated its 200th Anniversary and this month we will be treated to a presentation about the work of the RNLI in general plus some stories about the RNLI's Appledore station in particular who are celebrating their own ‘200th’ Anniversary this year.
Tuesday 13th May'Otters: Coming to a River Near You'. A welcome return of former vet and passionate wildlife photographer and conservationist Stephen Powles, who will be giving us an insight into the secretive lives of otters, their decline and subsequent recovery, and some details of a female otter that he observed over five years.Stephen Powles
Tuesday 10th June'Charters of the Forest and Our Lost Commons Rights'. Myc will share with us the story of the 13th century rights granted to people living in the Royal forests (including Exmoor and Dartmoor) - rights which should still be ours today.Myc Riggulsford

Tuesday 12th August‘The Origins of the Place Names of North Devon’. This promises to be a fascinating and informative talk about the names we are all familiar with, but whose origins may surprise us.Terry Green
Tuesday 9th September'The Barn Owl Trust - Restoring the Balance'. Subjects covered include an introduction to the Barn Owl, the effects of changing farming practices, conservation measures and the work of The Trust. The speaker will illustrate the close links between Barn Owls and people, and show the environmental consequences of everyday human activities.
Tuesday 14th October'The Archaeology of Heddon Valley'. Archaeologist Linda Blanchard gives us an expert insight into what lies below the surface of Heddon Valley.Linda Blanchard
